NorCal Hands On Ham Radio Class – How to Use Your Ham Radios Off Road – Winter Fun Fest 2019
Our next Hands On Off Road Ham Radio Class is scheduled for January 25th, 10Am to 2PM at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, Grass Valley, CA.
Below are the details for the January 25th Hands On Ham Radio Class:
Where: The main building on Personeni Rd, Nevada County Fairgrounds, Grass Valley, CA.
When: January 25th, 10AM to 2PM
Included: Roughly 4 hours of hands on instruction, Lunch, Soft Drinks.
Note: You DO NOT NEED to have a current ham radio license to take this class. However, if you do not have a license, you will not be allowed to physically transmit.
Optional: Alinco DJ-500T: Programmed with NorCal off road repeaters and frequencies, and a MORR Radio Reference Booklet. The registration cut off date to get one of the Alinco Radios is January 10th.
Also Optional: If you already have a radio and want it programmed and get a reference booklet, bring the radio and $20 with you to the class.
Our hands on off road ham radio class is designed with personal instruction in mind. Because of this, we only open the class to 12 spots. We will cover the following topics and make sure everyone knows how to use them:
– Repeater etiquette
– Manually Programming repeaters with your own radio
– Finding nearby repeaters while out on the trail
– Finding repeaters before a trip
– APRS usage
– Crossband Repeat
And if there is time – GaiaGPS for trail maps and backwoods locations.
We also have an option for a group buy on handheld radios. For the January 25th Hands On Ham Radio Class, you have the option of an Alinco DJ-500T.
In order to get the Alinco DJ-500T, your registration must be received by January 10th.
